Um Landeskog is already signed, as are Varlamov, Duchene and Mitchell (just listing everyone signed) and the Avs have plenty of Cap space for Radar, Stastny and Barrie. Elliott isn't even a full time nhler so he won't break the bank.

Not saying it is impossible but rather unlikely the Avs move O'Reilly.

you realize what his qualifying offer is going to be?

6.5million is the starting point

Not if they sign him before July 1. That means they don't need to qualify him, they just need to sign him.

why would he sign prior to july 1?

think about it.. he knows his min. starting point is 6.5.. would you sign for less?

It was almost like the Leafs acquired another version of Sidney Crosby – yes, a lot of fans were that crazy excited for this guy

That's the Avalanche starting price.

They are in a lose lose with this guy.

They don't qualify him, they aren't showing faith in him.

They qualify him they're pay 6.5 for a guy who will be a UFA in a season.

Would he rather have $6.5 for a year or $5.5 for 5-6?

It's possible if he wants to stay with the team...depends what Sakic says to him.

Given that it appears to be clear that Randy Carlyle won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, it will be Gardiner who is shown the door, first.

I can't understand why he hasn't been fired yet. Are we just going to keep shipping away talented players because they 'don't fit' with his terrible coaching?

sorry I think you have some wishful thinking going on here.

he'd take the 6.5 .. and it would be stupid of the avs not to go long term.. because then.. he goes to RFA status again.... and the qualifying offer is that much more.

a QO is not necessarily 1 year. thats arbitration.. different things.

Sakic wont get to talk to him.. sakic will be talking to his agent.

that agent will ensure he maximizes the deal.. its his job.

I've never seen Ken Holland match a ridiculously over priced offer sheet.

The agents job is to make sure the kid is happy.. If that means he wants to stay, it is the agents job to get him the best deal in Colorado.
